Position Overview
We are seeking an Interior Designer to support the Engineering Service Planning Section within a healthcare environment. This role involves independently planning and executing interior design tasks, supporting major project activations, space planning, budgeting, procurement, and overseeing delivery and installation of furnishings, finishes, and equipment. The role requires coordination with stakeholders and adherence to healthcare design standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Interior Design Section to plan and execute design tasks aligned with project objectives and deadlines
- Create and execute design services for offices, conference rooms, patient care areas, waiting rooms, lobbies, and support spaces
- Design building interior environments to promote productivity, health, and welfare
- Prepare detailed AutoCAD designs, plans, sketches, color schemes, and visual presentations
- Analyze architectural drawings and develop FF&E plans including systems, materials, and traffic flow
- Interpret architectural plans to ensure compliance with VA standards and specifications
- Produce procurement packages including specifications, IGCEs, bid sheets, budgets, and documentation
- Manage procurement lifecycle including vendor coordination, delivery, and installation
- Maintain design documentation including schedules, specifications, cost logs, and drawings
- Maintain Interior Design Resource Library and project documentation
- Assist in managing activation orders including furnishings, signage, equipment, and supplies
- Review installation plans and direct installation crews
- Identify punch list items and coordinate completion
- Apply knowledge of ABAAS, VA guidelines, OSHA, NFPA, and building codes
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including contracting, logistics, and engineering
- Support transition planning including workflow, logistics, and infection control considerations
- Develop schedules, participate in meetings, and support project execution activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR 8–10 years of professional interior design experience
- Experience working in healthcare environments with patient-centered care principles
- Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of FF&E selection, specification, and placement
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as NCIDQ, PMP, EDAC, or LEED
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Revit
