Position: Bakery Department Manager
Joseph’s customers have a difficult time resisting our Bakery department - thanks to the fresh breads, cakes, pastries, and unmatched customer service. As the Bakery Department Manager, you will lead all aspects of bakery operations to ensure an exceptional shopping experience and high-quality offerings that keep our customers coming back.
Routine Tasks:
- Lead and train bakery associates to meet Joseph's high standards for customer service, product quality, and cleanliness
- Provide ongoing training and ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge and tools to succeed
- Deliver excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions, and making personalized suggestions
- Meet or exceed departmental goals for sales, profit margins, labor, and supply costs
- Create and manage effective labor schedules and ensure coverage aligns with business needs
- Manage ordering and inventory to minimize waste and avoid out-of-stock situations
- Merchandise and maintain bakery displays that are visually appealing and fully stocked
- Take and fulfill custom/special orders from customers
- Package, label, and price self-service items accurately
- Operate bakery equipment safely, including ovens, knives, bread slicers, scales, and other Bakery equipment
- Assist with other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of leadership experience in a bakery, food service, or similar environment
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable
- Understanding of profit and loss management and ability to interpret income statements
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with others
- A passion for serving people and creating a positive team culture
A Bakery Department Manager performs their tasks primarily in the Bakery department. Must have the ability to clearly articulate the company’s goals and follow up on tasks and projects to achieve those goals. Must be able to resolve conflicts and promote a positive environment where all department associates enjoy coming to work. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 50 pounds. Work also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees.
