Associate - Produce

Position: Produce Associate

Fresh produce is the first thing our customers see when they walk into Joseph’s. As a Produce Associate, you play a critical role in maintaining the freshness, quality, and presentation that define our reputation. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, and the ability to ensure our produce department consistently reflects the high standards of Joseph’s Classic Market.

Routine Tasks: 

• Provide excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions, and making personalized suggestions
• Maintain product freshness through regular rotation and quality checks
• Restock and rotate displays to ensure visual appeal and freshness
• Accurately package, label, and price self-service items
• Cut, trim, and prepare fruits and vegetables for display and packaged sales
• Receive deliveries, unload trucks, break down pallets, and organize produce in prep areas and walk-in refrigerators
• Maintain cleanliness of scales, cutting boards, tools, and prep areas in compliance with food safety standards
• Safely operate produce equipment, including knives, scales, and pallet jacks
• Assist with other tasks as assigned 

Qualifications: 

• Must be at least 18 years of age 
• Prior produce or food preparation experience preferred
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic math and reading skills
• Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
• Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
• A passion for serving people

A Produce Associate performs their tasks primarily in the Produce department and the prep/backdoor receiving area. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 80 pounds. Work also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees.
