Capital Women's Care is a 150 group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. We are seeking a Sonographer who strives to aid the practice in providing diagnostic imaging and monitoring prenatal and gynecological conditions for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate OB/GYN ultrasound procedures and scans of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow.
- Analyze and evaluate images assessing the quality and clarity of images.
- Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Effectively communicate and prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and answering questions and concerns.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of ultrasound procedures, including patient data, images, and relevant information.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Maintain equipment for proper sterilization and functionality.
Requirements
- Education: Associates degree or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school.
- Certifications: Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- 2 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical office setting, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology, particularly related to obstetrics and gynecology.
- Proficiency in ultrasound techniques, including 2D, 3D, and Doppler, and understanding of how sound waves interact with tissues to optimize imaging.
- Knowledge of patient privacy laws, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively relay diagnostic findings to patients and physicians.
- Skilled in patient care, ensuring comfort and providing emotional support during procedures.
- Ability to detect subtle abnormalities in ultrasound images and provide accurate information.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and position patients appropriately for scans.
- Strong problem-solving skills to improve image quality and enhance the patient experience.
