What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastoral Assistant Liturgy - Salary position at 4000 Archdiocese Of Seattle Payroll Svc?
Purpose. The sacramental and prayer life of the Church are opportunities for people to encounter Christ and follow Him more closely. The Pastoral Assistant for Pastoral Care and Liturgy will assist the pastor of Family 28, consisting of Mary, Queen of Peace in Sammamish (MQP), St. Joseph in Issaquah (SJC), and Our Lady of Sorrows in Snoqualmie (OLOS), by accompanying individuals with grace and empathy, and assisting with overall coordination as needed, in accord with the liturgical laws of the Church.
Primary Responsibilities
Homebound Ministry
- Coordinate the Homebound Ministry for MQP and OLOS in particular.
- Train ministers and manage a schedule tracking those they visit, as well as clear Safe Environment and background checks.
- Receive requests for visits and assign ministers.
- Make visits personally as time allows and need exists.
Funeral Ministry
- Support families in a time of grief with empathy while assisting them in planning funerals for their loved ones who have died, at MQP in particular, and support the existing volunteers at the other parishes as needed.
- Coordinate all aspects of the funeral liturgy, connecting with liturgical ministers, reception coordinators and office staff and anyone else needed, such as funeral homes or cemeteries, for each celebration.
- Make necessary preparations for the funeral and be present the day of to assist families. Ability to serve as sacristan if needed.
- Ensure those recording Sacramental Records have the information they need.
Liturgy
- Plan for the various rites of the liturgical year or sacramental celebrations, drafting ritual texts for use at Mass and guidelines to help ministers prepare after consultation with the pastor, and vicar as needed.
- Support parish staff and volunteers in liturgical ministry training as needed.
Other
- Other duties as assigned by the pastor.
- Practicing Catholic regularly attending Sunday Mass and with an active prayer life.
- Knowledge of liturgical rubrics and the various ritual books.
- Most office work can be completed from home.
- An ability to travel to each of the parishes and parishioners homes as needed.
- An ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
