Lead Our Overnight Machining Team in York, PA
Picture your night: you arrive before the 11:00 p.m. start, touch base with your leads, and step onto a clean, safe floor. You’re the steady hand guiding the operation from Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. Your team counts on you to set the pace, clear roadblocks, and keep communication flowing to the next shift. You build trust with hourly employees and work shoulder-to-shoulder with union officers to keep people safe, schedules tight, and the department humming.
What You’ll Do- Direct nightly machining operations: assign work, balance work centers, and set priorities to hit productivity and quality targets.
- Champion safety and 5S: maintain a clean, hazard-free shop and reinforce safe behaviors.
- Set goals for the shift and staff appropriately to meet deadlines and project milestones.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, workflows, and communication.
- Coach and train hourly team members; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Ensure clear handoffs between shifts so information, priorities, and issues don’t get lost.
- Foster strong relationships with hourly employees and union representatives.
- Handle performance reviews, attendance, and disciplinary actions with fairness and consistency.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and related records.
- High school diploma (required).
- 3–5 years of hands-on machining experience.
- 2–5 years supervising in manufacturing (metalworking preferred).
- Proven leadership in a union environment.
- Deep understanding of machining fundamentals, equipment, and processes.
- Excellent people leadership and communication skills.
- Bonus: Journeyman Machinist or Tool & Die Maker credentials.
- Bonus: Two- or four-year technical degree in machining.
- Onsite in York, PA.
- Overnight schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. (3rd shift).
- Compensation starts at $80,000, plus a 10% shift differential for the overnight schedule.
- Direct hire with full benefits.

- Tool/Die/Mold repair capabilities.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Tool/Die/Mold setup experience.
