Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across local and regional routes.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or manual methods, ensuring proper handling of sensitive cargo such as refrigerated goods or hazardous materials.
- Drive specialized trucks including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off trucks, and dump trucks to meet diverse delivery needs.
- Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries efficiently.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks required.
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on freight delivery; familiarity with route driving is a plus.
- Ability to load freight safely using wheel loaders.
- Experience handling belt and walking floor trailers.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and cargo handling.
