Senior Civil / Site Design Engineer
In-House Engineering Role | Commercial & Industrial Projects
About the Opportunity
Our client is a privately held organization with an internal engineering function that supports development, construction, and long-term asset management activities across a portfolio of active properties. Rather than operating in a traditional consulting environment, this role sits on the ownership/development side, offering exposure to projects from early feasibility through construction and ongoing operations.
The position works closely with an Engineering Manager and partners regularly with internal development, construction, and regional teams. It combines technical oversight, selective hands-on design, and real-world problem solving focused on constructability, efficiency, and long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee site/civil engineering efforts performed by external consultants across multiple projects
- Support early-stage planning by preparing or reviewing conceptual site layouts, grading approaches, and stormwater strategies for feasibility and budgeting
- Review and provide technical guidance on construction documents related to site design and private/public infrastructure
- Ensure consistency and accuracy through quality assurance and interdisciplinary coordination
- Participate in construction-phase support, including site observations and issue resolution
- Perform limited in-house civil/site design for smaller or time-sensitive improvements as needed
- Prepare site-related exhibits to support tenant-facing initiatives, such as parking layouts or improvement plans
- Oversee the development of record drawings and site-related certifications
- Research and evaluate emerging design methods, materials, and technologies with an emphasis on efficiency, durability, reduced maintenance, and cost control
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with demonstrated site/civil design expertise
- Approximately 7 years of progressive experience in civil/site engineering
- Current, hands-on involvement in site design, including grading, utilities, and stormwater systems
- Strong background in commercial and/or industrial projects; residential experience is a plus
- Proven ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and advance projects independently
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments, including undeveloped sites and varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
- Regular on-site presence is an essential function of the role

Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
