Position Overview
The Roofing Estimator is responsible for inspecting roofs, preparing accurate cost estimates, and presenting roofing solutions to customers. This role involves evaluating residential roofing projects, measuring roof systems, calculating material and labor costs, and ensuring proposals align with company pricing and quality standards. The estimator works closely with homeowners, project managers, and production teams to ensure successful project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed roofing estimates including materials, labor, permits, and equipment
- Generate accurate proposals
- Review blueprints, aerial measurements, and satellite imagery when needed
- Work with suppliers to obtain current material pricing
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure smooth job transitions from estimate to production
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and customer interactions in CRM systems
- Follow up with clients regarding estimates and answer technical questions
- Ensure all estimates comply with company standards and local building codes
Qualifications
- Previous experience in roofing, construction estimating, or a related field required
- Strong understanding of roofing systems (shingle, tile, metal, etc.)
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
- Proficiency with estimating software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with estimating tools such as EagleView, AccuLynx, or Xactimate
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements
- Experience working with insurance claims and adjusters
