Job description:
Position Summary The Engineer, Asset Management partners with generation and grid operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of electrical assets across power plants, transmission, substations, and distribution systems. This role provides technical leadership, leads reliability initiatives, supports capital projects and outages, and develops proactive asset health and failure-mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include oversight of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, inverters, batteries, and emergency power systems, while ensuring compliance with NERC and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support engineers, technicians, and analysts on electrical system reliability, asset health, and NERC compliance activities
- Develop asset performance models, analytics, and risk-based reliability strategies
- Identify failure modes, assess criticality, and recommend proactive mitigation plans
- Provide technical guidance for capital projects, outages, major maintenance, and equipment procurement
- Perform condition assessments using inspections, measurements, and data analytics
- Lead reliability teams and continuous improvement initiatives across facilities
- Support forced outage response and expedited return-to-service efforts
- Lead and coordinate the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited); Electrical Engineering required
- Experience in power plant engineering required
- Knowledge of electrical equipment, system protection, asset management, and reliability engineering
- Familiarity with NERC compliance standards
- FE or PE license preferred
Experience Levels
- Engineer II: 4 years power plant or utility engineering experience
- Engineer III (Senior): 8 years related experience, including power systems and compliance
- Engineer IV / Engineering Fellow: 12 years related experience with demonstrated leadership in asset reliability
Working Conditions
- Combination of office and field work at grid facilities
- Occasional travel, overtime, and outage support required
- Ability to work in industrial environments and meet physical job requirements
Salary : $120,000 - $125,000
