Lead Civil Engineer
We have an immediate opportunity for a Lead Civil Engineer for the Los Angeles area. This ideal candidate will provide technical Leadership efforts across all project phases including project scope, design, cost controls, scheduling, as well as construction support. Looking for a detailed, well organized, collaborative and self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills who is adaptable to shifting priorities. This is an in office two days a week hybrid position with 25% travel within Southern California.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the engineering team across all project phases
- Work closely with internal teams to include project managers, environmental, real estate, and construction teams
- Ability to conduct job walks and provide engineering construction support across diverse geographical areas for Transmissions, Substation and Distribution facilities. Can be in the in the field 1 to 2 days a week depending on the needs.
- Will be responsible for contractor oversite managing consultant, defining scopes, reviewing proposals to ensure quality while maintaining project schedule
- Secure necessary permits and approvals from local jurisdiction and agencies
- Ability to manage project schedules providing technical leadership for civil engineering scope while managing budget and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders
- Promote a safety-first culture both in office and on-site
- Responsible for Quality Assurance for consultant deliverables, peer reviews, managing purchase orders and approval of invoices
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required, Master’s degree in civil engineering desired
- 8 years of experience in land development for Substation facilities and Transmission access in varied terrain desired
- Road and highway design experience desired
- Experience with ArcGIS desired
- Storm damage response and mitigation desired
- Experience in contractor management and purchase order oversite
- Knowledge of California permitting processes
