Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, plastering, caulking, and applying primer to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Use hand tools and power tools such as brushes, rollers, airless paint sprayers, scrapers, sanders, and welders to execute detailed painting tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately determine project scope and specifications.
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and specialty coatings to interior and exterior surfaces including walls, ceilings, trim carpentry, stucco exteriors, masonry structures, and fixtures.
- Perform surface repairs such as patching holes or cracks using plastering or masonry techniques; restore surfaces during renovation projects.
- Execute specialized painting techniques including industrial painting and airless spraying for large-scale or commercial projects.
- Handle additional construction tasks like fixture installation, framing carpentry, concrete finishing, masonry work, remodeling tasks, or basic carpentry when needed.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials; ensure safety protocols are followed at all times on construction sites.
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate materials needed for each job using construction estimating skills; assist in project planning.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the project to ensure finishes meet company standards and client expectations.
- Support ongoing maintenance tasks or maintenance person duties that may arise during project execution or post-completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in residential painting with a solid understanding of color theory and surface preparation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with construction site work including commercial painting, renovation projects, restoration efforts, or industrial applications.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings; familiarity with building codes is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers; experienced with power tools including airless sprayers and welding equipment.
- Knowledge of plastering techniques, caulking applications, trim carpentry, stucco application, masonry work, concrete finishing & framing carpentry.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and estimations; experience with construction estimating is advantageous.
- Familiarity with schematics for equipment setup or repair; understanding of renovation processes enhances versatility.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on safety practices on active construction sites.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods; capable of lifting heavy materials; comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.
