Job Description

Product Developer

Our client is an industry-leading brand specializing in organic cotton baby clothing, bedding, and natural skincare essentials.

As the Product Developer, you will help to bring beautifully designed, high-quality children’s apparel and soft goods to life. This role is responsible for managing the development process from initial design handoff through production readiness, ensuring products meet brand standards, cost targets, quality expectations, and calendar milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product development process from concept approval through production handoff.
  • Track development milestones, submits, approvals, and sample status to ensure seasonal calendars remain on schedule.
  • Partner closely with design and technical design to ensure products reflect intended aesthetic, fit, construction, and functionality.
  • Review development submits such as lab dips, print strike-offs, fabric approvals, trim samples, and other materials for accuracy and alignment with brand standards.
  • Communicate clearly with domestic and overseas vendors regarding timelines, comments, revisions, and product requirements.
  • Help identify risks to delivery or execution early and recommend practical solutions to maintain momentum.
  • Maintain accurate product information, development trackers, and system data throughout the lifecycle.
  • Support preparation for line reviews, milestone meetings, and go-to-market presentations by ensuring samples and product details are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate packaging, labeling, and retailer-specific requirements with internal teams and vendor partners as needed.
  • Participate in fittings and cross-functional review meetings to support product quality and readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in fashion, textiles, product development, or a related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in apparel or consumer product development, preferably within childrenswear or a similarly detail-driven category.
  • Demonstrated experience managing products through the full development lifecycle in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience reviewing color and material submits, samples, and construction details.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams and overseas vendor partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with PLM systems is strongly preferred.
  • Adobe Illustrator experience is a plus.
