Job Summary
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of clean, fresh linens, towels, and other laundry items for guest rooms and hotel operations. This position operates laundry equipment, maintains quality standards, and supports the Housekeeping Department by providing timely and efficient laundry services while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and organize hotel linens, towels, bedding, uniforms, and other laundry items.
- Operate washers, dryers, ironers, and folding equipment according to hotel procedures.
- Inspect linens and uniforms for stains, damage, or excessive wear and remove damaged items from circulation.
- Treat stains using approved cleaning products and techniques.
- Maintain accurate inventory of clean linens and notify management of shortages.
- Deliver clean linens and uniforms to designated storage areas and housekeeping closets.
- Keep the laundry room clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Clean and maintain laundry equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow all chemical handling, safety, and OSHA guidelines.
- Monitor laundry supplies and notify management when detergents, chemicals, or other supplies need to be reordered.
- Assist housekeeping with linen distribution and other departmental needs as assigned.
- Respond promptly to urgent linen requests from hotel departments.
- Follow hotel brand standards, policies, and procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a warm, humid environment around laundry equipment.
