Job Summary
The Houseman plays a vital role in supporting the Housekeeping Department by ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked. This position assists room attendants, responds promptly to guest requests, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver clean linens, towels, and guest room supplies to housekeeping staff.
- Collect and remove dirty linens, trash, and recyclables from guest room floors and designated areas.
- Clean and maintain public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and meeting spaces.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust assigned areas.
- Replenish housekeeping closets and storage rooms with necessary supplies.
- Assist room attendants with moving furniture, making beds, and completing deep-cleaning projects as needed.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, including delivering extra towels, linens, pillows, toiletries, and other amenities.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment to the appropriate department.
- Operate housekeeping equipment safely and properly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping carts, laundry areas, and storage rooms.
- Assist with laundry operations when needed.
- Support hotel operations during busy periods by assisting other departments as directed.
- Follow all hotel policies, safety procedures, and brand standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and behavior.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions when necessary.
