Job Summary
The District Attorney’s Office is seeking a reliable, highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to provide administrative and clerical support to prosecutors and legal staff. This position plays a critical role in the efficient operation of the office by assisting with case preparation, court coordination, and confidential legal documentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, type, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence
- Maintain and manage case files and records in accordance with office policies and legal requirements
- Schedule court appearances, hearings, meetings, and appointments; track deadlines and court dates
- File legal documents with courts and law enforcement agencies, including electronic filings
- Answer and route phone calls; communicate professionally with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, attorneys, and the public
- Assist prosecutors with case preparation and trial support as needed
- Enter and update case information in case management systems
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in legal studies or office administration preferred)
- Previous experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or administrative professional preferred
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and criminal justice processes preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with strong phone etiquette.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
