Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and certified Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week travel contract in Alaska. The ideal candidate will have strong operating room experience, excellent knowledge of surgical instruments, and the ability to maintain sterile technique while supporting surgeons and nursing staff during complex surgical procedures.

Assignment Details

• Position: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day Shift
• Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 10-hour shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• On-Call: Required, including backup call for emergency surgical cases
• Call Back: Required when called in
• Holiday Coverage: Not required
• EMR: Meditech

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub in on various surgical procedures under the supervision of professional nursing staff.
• Prepare and arrange sterile instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications for surgical procedures.
• Anticipate surgeons' preferences and ensure necessary instruments and supplies are readily available.
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout surgical procedures.
• Monitor instruments and supplies to ensure sterility and patient safety.
• Disassemble, clean, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization.
• Assist with patient positioning and surgical preparation.
• Maintain adequate inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
• Participate in departmental educational programs, quality improvement initiatives, and committees.
• Provide backup call coverage for emergency cases requiring additional surgical technologists.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program.
• Current CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification – mandatory at the time of submission.
• Current BLS certification – mandatory
• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, anatomy, suturing materials, and sterile processing.
• Proficiency in sterile technique and patient positioning.
