Duration: 12 Months
Duties:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.
- Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program.
You must have:
- Hawaii APRN license with prescriptive authority.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii.
- DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration.
- Hawaii Narcotics Enforcement Administration (NEA) registration.
You must hold one of these certifications:
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC), or
- Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist-Board Certified (PMHCNS-BC)
Clinical Knowledge Required
- Psychiatric assessment and diagnosis.
- Using DSM and ICD diagnostic criteria.
- Medication management and psychopharmacology.
- Treating serious mental illness.
- Substance use disorders (dual diagnosis).
- Crisis intervention.
- Forensic psychiatry.
- Evidence-based psychiatric care.
- Psychotherapy and treatment planning.
