Medical Billing Specialist

Duration: 12 months

Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday-Friday

Note: This position will have a focus on credentialing

Accountant - Billing:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES: Obtains, reviews, and evaluates financial reimbursement information for patient medical services.

1. Conducts interviews and obtain information from patients, patient's family, and/or Client concerning responsibility for patient care. Complete new admission paperwork.
2. Establish ability and authority of responsible party for payment of patient services rendered including precertification for patients with insurance. Perform follow-up interviews and contacts as needed.
3. Manage the credentialing and enrollment process for physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals with commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers. Track expiration dates for licenses, certifications, malpractice coverage, and other credentialing requirements.
4. Maintain, run reports to review and evaluate patient accounts including posting charges, submitting insurance claims, working denied claims and posting payments into Meditech electronic medical records.
5. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

• High school graduate or GED.
• Minimum two years' experience in Medicaid/Managed Care/Medicare/Medicare Advantage insurance/third party billing procedures.
• Experience using an electronic medical records system.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care enrollment processes.
• Familiarity with payer portals and credentialing systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple providers, payers, and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with healthcare provider credentialing, payer enrollment, medical staff services, or insurance verification.
• Must be able to navigate stairs frequently throughout the workday as part of the essential job functions.
