What are the responsibilities and job description for the Injection Molding Process Technician II position at 2024?
Job Summary: Uses technical experience with plastic injection molding, along with hands on set-up, processing, and troubleshooting skills for both electric and hydraulic injection machines and auxiliary equipment. Assures injection molding machines are set-up and run to quality standards and meet all production goals.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Job Requirements:
• Ensure all mold changes are done in a timely manner to meet daily production demands
• Perform injection molding machine startups – ensuring all material, automation, and any other necessary tools or
equipment are setup correctly and safely
• Ensure all parts meet quality standards; sign off on startups and document any startup scrap
• Respond promptly to quality concerns to reduce scrap and support machine operators in their duties
• Create repeatable documented processes using scientific molding principles
• Troubleshoot all molding processes, including molding equipment, material handling equipment, and robot malfunctions;
Alert Maintenance and/or Molding Manager of issues outside your abilities
• Mentor and train Mold Technician level I and Material Handler positions
• Perform minor insert changes using prints as guidelines
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed. Elevate all safety concerns immediately
• Actively seek out and implement continuous improvements within the molding department
• Communicate with prior and oncoming shifts to give work assignments and expectations to achieve production
requirements and promote shift interaction and awareness
• Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to ensure part quality/performance as
needed
Experience and General Skills Required:
• Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience as a process mold technician in the field of plastic injection molding with strong
mechanical aptitude required
• RJG Master Molder Certification or equivalent experience is preferred
• Strong understanding of process controllers, robotics, injection molding equipment, hydraulics and/or electrical systems
• Good communication/interpretation skills, good visual skills for assessing part quality
• Above basic math skills and reasoning ability
• Moderate computer skills
Education Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2-year degree in engineering or plastics related technology, or equivalent work experience
• Between 1 and 2 years of trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship preferred
