What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Engineer, Podcasts position at 200 The Atlantic Monthly Group LLC?

We’re looking for someone to join our growing team to engineer both video and audio podcasts. This person will work alongside show hosts, a team of producers and editors, and other engineering staff as well as the executive producer of The Atlantic’s audio department. They will partner with producers to create lush and crisp programs, and must know how to organize and maintain a physical studio space as well as how to facilitate remote connections. The right candidate will be capable of working with team members of all experience levels to ensure a seamless workflow, maintain best practices in file organization and storage, and help our programs sound and look their best. The role will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work. Responsibilities include: Mix and master both video and audio files Work with producers to create and/or identify best music selections for episodes Integrate music and sound design, as needed, e.g: mixing in intro and outro music Delivering video and audio files that meet the necessary specifications across relevant podcast and video platforms.Work with producers to prepare and clean up music, dialogue, archival, and other audio, and to incorporate edits/feedback as needed Assist with recording both in-studio and in the field, if needed Troubleshoot technical issues with team members, maintain technical aspects of studio and ensure producers use best practices in studios, assist Atlantic writers and editors in establishing the best home-recording setups possible where needed. Qualifications of the ideal candidate: Mastery of, and ability to help team members troubleshoot issues with, ProTools, Izotope products, Audio Hijack, and other podcast production software Fluent understanding of remote filing and recording Excellent at meeting deadlines and working independently
 A collaborative approach to creation and an independent work ethic
 Music composition skills are a plus Salary Minimum: $77,000; Salary maximum: $80,000 This position is based in Washington, D.C or New York City This is a Guild position.
