Position Overview

We’re seeking a part-time Church Administrator who will serve as the heart of our weekday operations and the first point of contact for many who come through our doors. This vital role supports the Pastor, staff, and volunteers by managing communications, scheduling, and facilities use, and by keeping our office organized and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist visitors, answer phones, and respond to emails
  • Coordinate facility scheduling, rentals, and meetings
  • Maintain the church calendar, office files, and supplies
  • Oversee production of the weekly bulletin and e-newsletter
  • Update website and social media with current information and events
  • Provide administrative support for staff, Council, and Ministry Circles
  • Supervise and support office volunteers
  • Coordinate communication and logistics for special events

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in office administration or a related field
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MailChimp (or similar), Canva, Zoom, and social media
  • Ability to learn new systems such as Breeze CRM
  • Comfort working with diverse people and maintaining confidentiality
  • Positive, professional, and service-oriented demeanor

Schedule and Work Environment

  • Hours: 20 per week, Monday–Thursday
  • Location: On-site at the church office in downtown Salem
  • The Church Administrator is expected to be present during regular office hours to provide in-person support for staff, volunteers, and the public.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $23–$25 per hour DOE
  • Benefits: Pro-rated PTO and paid holidays (per Personnel Policy)
  • Payment in lieu of time off is not permitted; time off must be taken as earned.
