1st Choice is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to provide administrative and records management support for a local government legal office. The selected candidate will assist with maintaining project files, data entry, and document processing to ensure efficient operations within a structured, public-sector environment.
This is a part-time temporary position offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting a professional government office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain project files (physical and electronic)
- Perform data entry into internal tracking systems
- Maintain and organize the file room and handle document scanning and archiving
- Assemble and distribute mailings and correspondence
- Track and follow up on document requests and records updates
- Support general administrative functions and provide assistance to senior office staff
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with agency policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental efficiency
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- 1–2 years of administrative or clerical experience (government or legal office experience a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a professional office environment
Work Schedule:
- 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, scheduled within core hours of 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Flexible start times within those core hours may be available
