The 1754 House is a historic inn and restaurant in the heart of Woodbury, CT, known for warm hospitality, timeless charm, and exceptional guest experiences. We are currently seeking a friendly, professional, and guest-focused Host to join our front-of-house team.

Position Overview:
As the first point of contact for our guests, the Host plays a critical role in setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate will be welcoming, well-organized, and able to manage reservations and guest flow with grace and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests warmly and sincerely as they arrive
• Manage reservations and waitlists using our POS/reservation system
• Coordinate seating to maximize guest satisfaction and server efficiency
• Monitor dining room activity to anticipate guest needs
• Assist with coat check, menus, and basic guest requests
• Communicate clearly and courteously with guests and team members
• Uphold cleanliness and presentation standards of the host stand and entry areas

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a host or guest service role is preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Polished, professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Availability on nights, weekends, and holidays is essential
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering memorable experiences
