1736 Family Crisis Center offers crisis intervention services, including four 24- hour hotlines, as well as longer-term services in client advocacy and outpatient psychotherapy. The residential counseling and support services include shelter programs for (1) runaway and homeless adolescents, (2) domestic violence and human trafficking victims and their children (emergency and transitional programs (3) Homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services for the general population and Veterans and their families. Community outreach programs are provided to educate the public and prevent mental-health problems in the general population and in targeted groups to at-risk populations.

We are currently seeking dedicated staff with a passion for working with Youth experiencing homelessness for immediate hire. 

Residential Care Managers provide coverage 24 hour/7 day per week for our Youth Shelter for children 12-17 years of age. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, advocate with a passion for community service. This project will directly serve youth homeless population and provide an opportunity to become a part of the changing the life of runaway and homeless youth.

We seek staff to provide:

  1. On-Call positions: You will demonstrate to be available to pick up coverage shifts as needed to ensure our programs have adequate support. This can be on a prescheduled or emergency basis. Please identify your availability (days and times). Flexibility is desired.
  2. Part-time positions: You will demonstrate the ability to be available for an assigned, regular part-time shift. Flexibility is desired.

Shift Times are: Morning: 7:30am-4:00pm, Swing 3:30pm-12:00am, Overnight 11:30pm-8:00am

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all client activities within the shelter during shift
  • Provides client crisis intervention during scheduled shift and ensures client adherence to shelter guidelines
  • Answers client hotline/crisis intervention calls
  • Assists in completing client intake
  • Provides advocacy services for clients
  • Conducts life skills groups for clients, as instructed
  • Assists with client recreation and life skill activities
  • Provides for the physical safety of clients in the event of accidents or disasters
  • Maintains appropriate client records
  • Attends meetings as instructed, including but not limited to weekly staff meetings related to client and shelter issues
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in mental health, social services or comparable field desired.
  • 1 year experience with homeless population, preferably youth in a residential or related living facility and related culture. (combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • Experience working with Youth populations
  • Strong knowledge of Boundaries, HIPAA, Programmatic standards of operation and clinical engagement, documentation, and client focused care
  • Demonstrated skills in working with participants from various backgrounds, particularly homeless individuals
  • Familiarity with the Housing First, Harm Reduction and Trauma informed philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, and employment and education verifications-Mandatory
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desired, but not required
