Senior Mechanical EngineerLocation: Orlando, FLPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and execution of large-scale, complex projects. In this role, you will own mechanical systems from initial concept through installation and commissioning, applying deep technical expertise in system design, analysis, safety, and integration. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects in a multidisciplinary environment where safety, reliability, and innovation are paramount.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical system design from a blank sheet of paper, developing concepts and detailed designs that meet project requirements.Perform engineering analyses and calculations, including stress, fatigue, load, acceleration, reliability, life expectancy, and tolerance studies.Design safety-critical components and implement redundant mitigation strategies to enhance system safety and reliability.Develop mechanical systems involving complex motion and integration with automated systems.Create and maintain 3D models and detailed designs using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support system integration and design modifications.Manage vendor scope and ensure compliance with contractual, safety, and functional requirements.Ensure designs comply with applicable local, government, client, and industry codes and standards.Conduct technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.Design, analyze, and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Support mechanical system installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing, including off-shift support as required.Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including:Description of OperationsMechanical design descriptionsAnalysis and calculation reportsImplementation and acceptance test plansRoutine maintenance and job plansQualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.Degrees in other engineering disciplines may be considered only if professional experience is directly related to mechanical engineering.Experience10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering roles.Minimum of 3 years of experience designing systems from scratch or performing major system redesigns (50% redesign).Demonstrated experience applying GD&T to large-scale or high-duty-cycle systems with fatigue considerations.Experience with ASTM standards, safety engineering, and the attractions industry is strongly preferred.Knowledge of ride system design for guest-facing attractions is a plus.Core CompetenciesStrong system-level design and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationHighly organized with strong planning and prioritization abilitiesEffective problem solver and decision-makerComfortable working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environmentsCustomer-focused with attention to detail and qualityTechnical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applicationsExperience working with 3D CAD and mechanical analysis toolsTravel & Work EnvironmentTravel: Up to 30% in peak project periods (historically closer to 10%).Work Location: Primarily on-site at client locations (5 days per week).Environment: Office, on-site industrial, and construction environments.Physical & Working RequirementsAbility to see (including color perception), hear, speak clearly, and perform fine motor tasks.Ability to lift, climb, push, pull, drive, and safely mount/dismount equipment as required.Frequent computer and office equipment use.
