York International Corporation seeks Senior Mechanical Engineer, Centrifugal Compressors at its facility located at 5000 Renaissance Drive, New Freedom, PA 17349. JOB DESCRIPTION: Engage in sustaining and new development product engineering activities, including technology roadmap projects, sustaining activities include Value Analysis/Value Engineering, assisting product technical support, manufacturing personnel (Factory), and other compressor and chiller engineers in the business unit globally. Use VA/VE technique to deliver high product/service value to customers by reducing cost and/or improving functionality without compromising on quality. Work on new product introduction (NPI) assignments which include new compressor and/or component design and coordination of prototype design and build activities. Revise components, assemblies and/or processes as needed to improve compressor efficiency and/or reduce cost. Design new centrifugal compressors based on requirements supplied by product management and chiller engineering. Function as an interface with aero and other compressor engineers as needed to facilitate the work. Collaborate with designers to revise/update existing drawings and bill of material (BOM) to implement quality or VA/VE improvements or to create new drawings and BOM’s for NPI projects. Function as compressor representative assigned to an 8D team or other formal quality process for centrifugal products when customer issues are identified. Execute improvement projects for quality, cost, performance, and reliability of existing centrifugal products. Review and approve drawings prior to release for manufacturing. Lead/participate in formal problem-solving activities. Assist product technical support, quality, manufacturing, compressor build room technicians, and other compressor engineers as needed to help resolve field issues. Coordinate agency approval activities (UL) for compressor engineering. Telecommuting: Hybrid, 1-2 days per week work from home allowed. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Plus four (4) years of experience as a Design Engineer, Project Engineer or related occupation involving Product Engineering. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Machinery design aspects including components, assemblies, and systems; (2) Reading mechanical component and assembly drawings; (3) Creating and revising various engineering documents such as standards, specifications, and forms; (4) Material properties and machining processes for steel and aluminum; (5) Mechanical design principles including structural integrity, vibrations, and FEA evaluation; (6) Utilizing quality engineering processes such as problem solving, corrective actions, and design for manufacturing; and (7) Providing technical support to application engineering, manufacturing, quality, product testing and field services.
