In developing the infrastructure for a robust program that supports the health and well-being of our clinical workforce (physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, residents), the Lean System Facilitator is a critical member of the Office of Clinician Well-Being (OCW). Reporting to the Director of Operations for the OCW, with a dotted line to the AVP of Wellstar's Lean Transformation Office (LTO), the Lean Systems Facilitator is a Lean subject matter expert, responsible for partnering with medical directors, clinical leads, and others to improve efficiency and process, mitigate communication barriers, improve teamwork, and empower clinicians to practice at top-of-license. The Lean System Facilitator leverages his/her knowledge of lean processes to reduce waste, decrease work outside of work, improve life-work integration, and support an overall culture of well-being across the clinician workforce. (S)He uses tools such as A3s, Value Stream Mapping, PDSA cycles, 5Ss, etc. to guide the work and demonstrate results. In addition to his/her work across departments and business units, the Facilitator understands the importance of team and utilizes his/her skills to also improve the overall internal functioning of the OCW team, recommending more efficient ways to meet, minimizing role redundancy, and leveraging the unique skills and competencies of individual team members to maximize outcomes.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Measuring, Analyzing, Improving, & Sustaining Processes Changes 1. Develops clear project A3 proper scoping 2. Works with initiative A3 teams, including analyst and others to quantify baselines 3. Facilitates development of countermeasures 4. Consults on change management approaches and measures change 5. Refines countermeasures as needed to improve outcomes 6. Summarizes A3 Improvements 7. Consults with leaders to present outcomes to teams, demonstrating success 8. Monitors improvement longitudinally 9. Utilizes escalation plans and countermeasures when project timelines or outcomes are at risk Coalition & Team Building 1. Works with clinician leaders to identify all needed stakeholders involved in change process 2. Works with Initiative Process Owners to align stakeholders around common goals/outcomes 3. Identifies team dynamics that might interfere with success and escalates to process owners as needed 4. Coaches project leaders on methods to improve team-orientation, consulting with other OCW and LTO team members as indicated 5. Leads team members through analysis of problem to identify contributors and root causes 6. Communicates regularly and effectively with process owners and stakeholders about team progress towards goals, critical factors, and obstacles 7. Anticipates and tracks return on investment of projects Defining Problems 1. Conducts needs assessments with various stakeholders 2. Identifies problems related to inefficiency, waste, etc. 3. Refines problem definition to manage scope creep 4. Listens and develops understanding of processes that contribute to or erode the well-being of Wellstar clinicians 5. Develops and/or maintains checklists, roadmaps, standard work instructions, job aids, and other tools to support the adoption of sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable process improvements Teaching/Mentoring/Coaching 1. Internal consultant for the OCW to maximize efficiency in process related to priority initiatives, meetings, etc. 2. Works with improvement initiative committee chairs (A3 Owners) to develop efficient meetings 3. Serves as advisor on the Physician Well-Being Council (and other committees) to aid in project prioritization 4. Participates in the design and planning of all new OCW initiatives/projects to improve efficiency and maximize results 5. Prepares articles for OCW newsletters 6. Presents outcomes/findings at departmental, facility, or system-level meetings 7. Collaborates with OCW team members in development of scholarly articles Other 1. Attends monthly system Lean meetings to develop relationships and collegiality with other Lean team members 2. Meets, as needed, with executive Lean leadership for mentoring, professional development, etc. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Business Administration/Management or Bachelors Engineering or Bachelors Health Administration or Bachelors Health Science

Minimum 5 years work experience Required and Minimum 3 years in healthcare Required and Experience managing others Required and Minimum 2 years having led some process improvement initiatives in healthcare organization(s) RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:
Basic Lean/Quality Improvement subject matter expertise (examples include: PDSA, Visual Management, Check Sheet, Histogram, Pareto Charts Run Chart, Leading/Lagging Measures, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Standard Work). Experience coaching and mentoring others directed towards their development. Strong demeanor and style to quickly establish credibility throughout any level in the organization. Able to influence positive and sustainable change, within and across, various functional areas. Proven success in partnering with operational leaders to accumulate, analyze, and concisely present data. Formulate actionable plans that are prioritized most closely around key issues and that align with strategic initiatives. Well organized, disciplined and persistent.
