Overview

Senior Systems Administrator - Verathon®

Verathon® is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to become the newest member of our Information Technology team located in Bothell, WA. This is a hybrid role, working onsite 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting the departmental leadership with strategic technical advice and solutions, provide departmental oversight and coordination, keep projects on schedule through project management, and perform related tasks where leadership skills are required. They will participate in the planning, design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of technologies utilized by their department. They will assist in defining and maintaining standards, policies, and procedures in accordance departmental objectives aimed to improve system availability, reliability, recoverability, and manageability. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain server performance at acceptable performance levels, including business proposals for equipment necessary to maintain performance and engaging vendor support where needed.
  • Ensure all deployments follow a Development-Test-Production build cycle, design the implementation for existing deployments where it is not in place.
  • Evaluate new technologies and develop business case for new technologies, present to leadership.
  • Oversee and develop Operating System patching and update processes and procedures, documenting and updating deployment and support processes.
  • Prepare Operating System security and patching reports. Evaluate and update Security protocols to maintain high security.
  • Maintain datacenter security, granting access to individuals who require it, removing access from individuals whom do not require it, inspecting and validating access lists and logs.
  • Control structure of servers and datacenter devices within Active Directory, control implementation of Group Policies deployed on servers and datacenter devices. Prepare and maintain documentation to control Active Directory organization.
  • Regularly train team members on processes, procedures, controls, documentation, and best practices.
  • Engage with Customers, providing additional communications support for System Administrators. 
  • Implementation and maintenance of Operating Systems according to documented processes, maintaining appropriate security patches and updates
  • Participate in the Planning, Design, Installation, Monitoring, and support of Windows and Unix based server platforms, VMware/Hyper-V technologies, back-up/communications equipment and server management tools. 
  • Participate in all phases of Server administration and analysis, monitoring at a highly technical level, and reviewing both internal and customer system requirements to provide integration and implementation support.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain optimal system performance. 
  • Monitor capacity versus utilization for hardware, system throughput, and licensing. Recommend appropriate actions on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation and/or oversubscription.
  • Implement security procedures in accordance with documentation. Suggests improvements to security protocols.
  • Administer standards, policies, and procedures in accordance with corporate and business objectives to improve system availability, reliability, recoverability, or manageability. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, infrastructure related certifications will be considered
  • 10 years of infrastructure related work experience.
  • Solid experience in Microsoft Windows Server 2019 / 2016 / 2012 / 2008
  • Comfortable with RedHat Enterprise Linux 6/7/8 and Ubuntu Server 12/14/16/18/20
  • Able to do Virtualization with VMware vCenter & vSphere
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Firewall and Network Security, WAN, Routing, SDWAN, High Availability, LACP, Failover technologies
  • Experience and fundamental knowledge of Networking
  • Management of Lan and VLANs
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Datacenter systems such as Power Redundancy, Environmental Controls, Racking, Wiring, and Networking
  • Experience working with Container technologies
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell and PowerCLI
  • Experience with monitoring systems and methods
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs./18kg
  • Regular overnight travel 10-25% of the time is required

Salary range - $117,000 - $157,040 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location. If this position is filled outside the Seattle WA metro area, this salary range will vary depending on the specific hiring location.)

Full-time non-sales employees are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
