CNC Programmer

Using various computer application programs develops and revises CNC programs for CNC Mill and CNC Lathes. Apply extensive knowledge of precision machine operation and programming such as CNC mills and CNC lathes as well as conventional machines. Responsible for the creation of drawings, tooling and fixturing documents. Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing engineering principles and applications, uses of calibrated tools and inspection criteria. Extensive knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation and specification /standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Create CNC Programs using available software

* Maintains CNC Program database (DNC)

* Create/maintain tooling and fixturing documents

* Review and modify process planning applying applicable tooling technique to CNC programs.

* Communicate with Machine Shop Manager and staff for Job Requirements while maintaining communication with Shop Scheduler to receive job requirements.

* Maximize efficiency of tooling applications

* Provide shop personnel with additional techniques and processes to assist in the completion of assigned job.

* May assist operator in selecting the right course of action for producing a part including but not limited to selecting the correct machine, selecting the correct cutter, updating the program accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be versed in basic shop theory, blueprint reading and layout work involving complicated calculations related to programming and tooling fabrication. Basic knowledge of structural development and fabrication, drafting technologyu and grapic CAM systems. Ability to effectively communicate with Shop Personnel. Must be task driven and able to work effectively in a team environment. General understanding of the entire machining/manufacturing process. Basic abilities in the use of MS Work and Excel. Requires basic math skills and blueprint reading. Experience with CAD-CAM software, such as MasterCam adn both lathe and mill machining concepts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Two year certificate from college or technical school; with a minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training; or a HS diploma or GED certificate with a minimum of seven (7) years experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
