What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at The Ordinary Pub?
The Common Restaurant is looking to add to its prep and bakery team and is accepting applications for a Baker's Assistant.
A steadily growing program, this small bakery is built around a double decker bread oven that is the heart of the program. Responsible for producing bread for both Common Restaurant and The Ordinary Pub, this program is responsible for pumping out fresh bread daily. The Bakery Assistant position will act as a second hand to the Head Baker & Pastry Chef, assisting to complete daily orders as well as assisting to create a dessert program for Common Restaurant, including its event space, The Room at Common. The Bakery Assistant will assist with executing cake, dessert, and take away gifts for private and ticketed events. In addition, this position will be cross trained in prep and will assist in completing prep lists alongside the prep team as needed.
The Bakery Assistant must be able to: follow instructions, sometimes from multiple sources; read and follow recipes; understand measurements and know basic baking fundamentals; be creative; work in a small and somewhat confined space; work under pressure; and pivot and redirect focus as needed. In addition, the Bakery Assistant must be able to: stand for long periods of time; work in a warm and occasionally hot environment; walk up and down flights of stairs multiple times a day; bend, squat, and twist; be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds to the waist and lift a minimum of 15 pounds overhead.
