Busy dermatology practice is looking for an experienced medical assistant/medical scribe.
Clinical Medical Assistant –Charleston, South Carolina Area
General Summary:
Under the direction of the physician, clinical supervisor, and clinical operations manager employee provides a variety of clinical, scribe and clerical duties, including assisting with patient flow, preparing patients for examinations and/or outpatient procedures, including assisting with exams and procedures, extensive electronic chart documentation.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
-Initial assessment and electronic documentation of patient: vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint. Document and maintain electronic patient chart, including meaningful use, medication reconciliation, pertinent patient history, etc.
-Ability to scribe during patient exams
-Preps patient and exam room for skin exams and/or various procedures, including outpatient surgeries.
-Ensures proper collection of specimens.
-Must be dependable, responsible, committed, and a team player. Excessive absenteeism is not tolerated.
Specifications:
• Education: High School graduate. Excellent grammar and spelling skills required.
• Experience: 1 to 2 years as a medical assistant, dermatology experience preferred. EMR experience required.
• Must be able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy. Must have good communication skills and be able to utilize tact and diplomacy when dealing with patients, patient’s families, and other members of the office. Must display courtesy and friendliness at all times.
• Physical Demands: Stands and walks throughout most of the day. Assists in lifting and moving patients.
• Advanced computer knowledge is a must - EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel
• Exceptional customer service skills
