Responsibilities:
The Job We are looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented individual to be our next Paralegal. What would a paralegal do?
Paralegals are integral members of our firm who are responsible for ensuring our clients receive the best legal service possible
Paralegals deal with clients regularly and engage in case management
The Paralegals primary goal is to provide attorney support by assisting with legal research; drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other documents; as well as maintaining client files
The Paralegal communicates with opposing counsel, the court system, and other administrative agencies
The Paralegal manages the attorney calendar to ensure all appearances are prepared for, and deadlines are met
Qualifications:
The Essentials
Being fluent in English and Spanish is preferred
You must have a High School Diploma
You must be a North Carolina Certified Paralegal or have a degree/coursework in paralegal studies. Five (5) years of experience working in a law firm in a Legal Assistant/Paralegal role or having a JD degree can be substituted for the certification or degree
College or university credits are preferred
Two (2) years of experience working in a law firm. A college degree can be substituted for one (1) year of law firm experience
You must be a positive and uplifting person. If you see the glass as being half full, you are the type of person we are looking for
You must be competent and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, at a minimum. If you are familiar with Practice Panther, Basecamp, or Lawmatics, that is a plus
You must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
You must be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done right the first time
You must be a team player. We are strong believers in the team approach, and our office is a team environment
You must be able to talk to people in a manner that is polite, educated, and puts them at ease
You must be compassionate
