Introduction to Blue Oval City
Ford is investing $5.6 billion to build its state-of-the art manufacturing facilities at Blue Oval City in West Tennessee. The Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center (TEVC) will produce the next generation electric trucks, with production beginning in 2025. On 3,600 acres, we are building our first mega campus in more than a generation - and it's electric. This brand-new facility will use Ford's 100-years of automobile manufacturing expertise and will be among the largest automotive manufacturing campus in U.S. history. Responsibilities
In this position;
  • You will be part of a team responsible to drive and manage the Paint Topcoat Processes (Primer, enamel and clearcoat). You'll utilize engineering principles to problem solve, support a team overseeing and optimizing the topcoat operations and manage methodologies for continuous improvement at the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center (TEVC).
What You'll do....
  • Process Management: Supervising and coordinating all aspects of the topcoat painting process, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of all painted surfaces and ensuring that they meet or exceed the required standards and specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Leading your team members by providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Constant communication with the maintenance team ensuring that all topcoat painting equipment and tools are properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or exposure to hazardous materials
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities in the topcoat process that can improve optimization, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to the topcoat painting process, including materials used, inspection results, and process parameters to make data driven decisions for process improvements.
  • Problem Solving: Addressing any issues or defects in the topcoat application process and implementing corrective actions.
  • Training and Development: Providing training and mentor all team members on topcoat processes, equipment operation, and safety measures.
  • Communication: Collaborating with other departments, such as engineering and quality control, to ensure seamless production processes and product quality
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on topcoat process performance, continuous improvement actions and areas for development to management
  • Inventory Management: Communicate with suppliers regarding the inventory of paint and related supplies and ensuring that there are always adequate stocks available.
  • Environmental Compliance: Adhering to environmental regulations and guidelines, especially in the disposal of paint and waste materials.
Qualifications
You'll have.....
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work weekends, rotating shifts, and holidays while remaining flexible to support a four-shift Manufacturing/Maintenance operation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing and/or automotive manufacturing environment.
Even Better You'll have.....
  • In-depth knowledge of topcoat automated production processes (Prime, enamel, and clearcoat) and implementing continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects.
  • Proficient in working directly with the topcoat process equipment- Robots, end-of-arm applicators (Bells), conveyors, booths, airflow (Dry filter experience a plus), and feather dusters.
  • Management or supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor team members.
  • Understanding of environmental and safety requirements
  • Ability to achieve and maintain 5S working standards.
  • Process optimization and cost reduction.
