Catering Assistant
The Catering Assistant will assist members of theFacilities Department in areas of food serving and presentation, inventory, safety, and security. They will supervise the performance of hired catering staff, ensuring that all procedures of an event are completed.
They assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests. The Catering Assistant is responsible for set up, execution, break down and proper storage of all catering functions. They have knowledge of food presentation and associated equipment as well as wines, mixed beverages and beer. The Catering Assistant is required to work a flexable schedule that includes evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. This position will work as an independent contractor.
Duties:
- Works closely with the Events Manager and to carry out the daily duties which are assigned by the Events Manager.
- Perform set-up and breakdown service for special functions including removal of dishes and breakdown of dining room after service.
- Maintain cleanliness of the community kitchen including moping kitchen appliances, work surfaces, and floors.
- Stocks service stations with: supplies, beverages, condiments etc; clean and neaten service stations and other work areas.
- Regularly inspect all banquet rooms and storage areas to ensure that health and safety regulations are met.
- Supervise the work and performance of hired catering companies.
- Provide a high level of customer service by conversing with guests, makes suggestions, and answers questions regarding food and beverages.
- Communicate guests likes and dislikes to Event Manager for menu planning purposes and guest satisfaction.
- As assigned, works all shifts and holidays & reports to work on time.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and customers
- Ability to work on a set scheduled timeline
- Ability to move and lift 50 pounds
- Ability to follow proper procedures from the Events Manager
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Patient and friendly with demonstrated experience in problem solving
- Food safety training will be a plus and required upon hiring
