Join SBLI as we develop out of IT Data capabilities. The Lead Data Analyst will be a key leader within the core Data, BI and Analytics team. Data and Analytics is structured into three specialties: Data Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Data Technology.
You will be contributing to increasing transparency, understanding and accessibility of data across the organization. You will thrive on autonomy, identify opportunities, and be passionate about taking our analytics capabilities to the next level through practical and structured approaches to data dissemination, visualization, and modeling. Your measures of success will be stakeholder satisfaction, and the adoption and reliability of data resources, such as BI reports and standardized datasets. As an early member of a centralized data team, you will have a unique opportunity to own and implement solutions to address a diverse set of data challenges, which enable the democratization of high-quality data throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Seek to deeply understand the needs of our data users, the nuances of our data sources and systems.
- Develop subject matter expertise and deep data knowledge in key business areas.
- Help maintain and build new curated, flexible, datasets and dashboards that support teams across the company.
- Enable and encourage data users to explore and garner insights from those datasets and dashboards through consultative approach, training and documentation.
- Collaborate with data engineering to contribute to the development of data assets.
- Learn how to identify and resolve data disparity issues independently, as appropriate.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries and implement solutions to enable non-technical end-users to answer, independently, in the future.
- Support the implementation of key metrics and data classifications; share that knowledge with other analysts.
- Adhere to and role model standard internal procedures on work quality and documentation.
- Work with customers to develop Domain Expertise on a number of business data sources.
- Identify and document data mapping and business requirements for modernized system development activities.
- Use SQL and automated tools to extract and compare data from primary and secondary sources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 10 years of Data Analysis experience (Preferably in Life Insurance industry)
- Strong experience using data-driven methods to analyze and address business issues.
- Experience in documenting business requirements and test cases
- Proficiency in using SQL queries for data analysis, preferably in Oracle, SQL Server environment.
- Experience in using Data Profiling tools.
- Experience in creating technical and business reports using tools such as Tableau, Oracle Business Intelligence Tools, Power BI
- Experience with legacy system modernization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – including presentation skills.
- Critical thinker and good problem-solver.
Hybrid work model - up to two days remote weekly.
