Position Summary

Operates paver to spread and level asphalt material on subgrade and related surfaces such as highways, roadways, parking lots, etc

Responsibilities

• Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Controls material taken into the paver and the depth of material being distributed through the paver, smoothness of mat, any unnecessary roughness and/or irregularities in the mat, the ride quality of mat, and depths of material distributed through the paving machine.
• Operates screed machine from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongside.
• Uses the screed machine to lay asphalt material to project specifications including but not limited to depth, width, and grade.
• Operates other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
• Has a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving.
• Perform well in a “TEAM” environment.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Willing to work hours that are associated with the asphalt industry, including overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Pass a physical and screen.

Compensation is based on per day basis and based on experience [$325 to $650 per day]
