Field Service Technician:

Omaha Pneumatic has been in business for over 33 years. Service areas include Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas and Missouri.

Job Type: Full Time. $19-$32/hour based on experience bonus opportunity

Sign on Bonus of $500 paid out after 90 days. 

Location: (remote) Lincoln, Headquarters Omaha Ne

Hours of Operation: 8 AM – 5 PM, 2-10 hours overtime/week possible, some weekends on call

The role of the Field Technician: Service Technicians are responsible for performing shop and/or field repairs including: preventative maintenance, maintenance service and troubleshooting of compressed air systems/ air compressors, air dryers, air piping, automotive fluid handling and components. Cleaning the machines after service adding our sticker for branding

Must have a working knowledge of Electrical systems .

Locations: Midwest

Omaha, NE (position will require you to be at customer sites 98% of the time with company vehicle)

Lincoln, Ne (position will require you to be at customer sites 98% of the time with your own vehicle and reimbursement or potentially a company vehicle)

Iowa Regional (position will require you to be at customer sites 98% of the time with your own vehicle and reimbursement or potentially a company vehicle)

South Dakota (position will require you to be at customer sites 98% of the time with your own vehicle and reimbursement or potentially a company vehicle)

Position Details:

● Perform routine, preventative maintenance and repairs on rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors, oil-injected and oil-free air compressors, refrigerated dryers, desiccant dryers and additional compressed air system components

● Preventative maintenance should be conducted in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations (with regards to schedule and scope).

● Troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on malfunctioning compressors, determine possible causes for malfunctions, and perform repairs as suggested by diagnostics and assessment.

● Test and document the proper operating parameters of the compressor prior to and following preventative maintenance and repairs.

● Maintenance Mechanics must display the ability to absorb a higher level of learning including VSD’s, refrigeration, industrial networks, remote monitoring, air audits and an understanding of Electrical systems

● Provides technical assistance on equipment start-ups, installations and repairs of compressed air systems.

● Understand set up in relation to the effects of pressure differentials, temperatures, flows, heat load, piping schemes etc. and their effects on energy consumption.

● Assure equipment operates to customer’s requirements.

● Explain system capabilities and operation to the customer along with features and benefits

● Educate customers about products, services, and solutions, such as service contracts, 24 hour assistance, thorough diagnostics and energy and performance audits, can benefit their operations and bottom line.

● Works with Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary to complete installations and repairs

● Must be able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.

● Perform basic mathematical calculations; including but not limited to, totaling work orders and basic compressed air formulas

● Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties

● Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner

● Serves as technical support for customers and Customer Service Managers.

● Documents service and installation activities by completing work orders for each job, maintenance checklist and daily time sheets.

● Provide a high level of customer service, responding to customer needs and working to satisfy customer expectations.

● Develop rapport with customers through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.

● Serve as an ambassador for the company.

● Display the ability to manage time accordingly.

● Must have the ability to work and solve problems independently.

● Promote and practice proper safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment at all times. Perform other duties as assigned.

● Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly shop work areas, company vehicles, and job site work areas

● Drive company vehicle to and from job sites throughout the day.

● May be required to tow a trailer or portable air compressor using Company vehicle

Skills and Experience:

● 3-5 years of air compressor service technician experience required is ideal. Technical experience maintaining and repairing various types of mechanical and electrical equipment needed.

● Strong mechanical and electrical skills with demonstrated expertise in the maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a wide variety of industrial equipment, including electrical, pneumatics and/hydraulics.

● Education – High School diploma or equivalent required with technical training in electrical, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics needed

● Skills – Able to work independently with strong self-management and professionalism.

● Familiar in mobile/cell based apps for IOS (HouseCall Pro, Zendesk, Trello, Telegram, Gmail)

● Able to complete work within assigned deadlines.

● Computer proficiency as required for communication, research, work orders and programming various controllers.

● Excellent communications skills (oral and written).

● Extensive travel to customer locations, including out-of-town.

● Available for a rotating schedule of on-call work on evenings, weekends and holidays.

● Must be fluent in English and have a valid driver’s license.

● Must use preventative safety measures to avoid electrical shock, limit exposure to loud noises, and prevent personal injury by using personal protective equipment, including the

● Must be able to lift up to 50-100 lbs. on a regular basis and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, pulling, pushing, squatting, and kneeling.

● Valid Driver’s License with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUI’s in previous 5 years.
