Job Summary: Responsible for the provision of medically assisted treatment to patients with substance abuse and addiction; provide clinical guidance and support to program practitioners and staff; provide input to program development and sustainability
Essential Functions:
Oversee medical care provided to patients; obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order or prescribe medications/other treatments/ procedures/urine testing; authorize admissions and render admitting diagnoses.
Provide individual and group health education and risk reduction counseling.
Accurately interpret urine testing so as to ensure program compliance.
Make appropriate and timely referrals to therapy and other outside agencies:
Be available for consultation, direction, and/or on-site care during evenings, weekends, and off- hours and ensure coverage if not immediately available.
Serve as health advisor to multi-disciplinary team; provide consultation/peer review to other physicians/clinicians.
Actively participate in activities intended to improve patient care/facility operations.
Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
Prepare, maintain and preserve all required treatment records, reports and outside communications.
Counsel clients or patients, individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life challenges, or making necessary lifestyle modifications.
Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, review of outside records, and/or testing.
Act as client advocates to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
Collaborate when necessary with other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition, based on review of all pertinent client information.
Meet with families, probation officers, police, or other interested third parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
Refer patients, clients, and/ or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting clients or patients.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving toward defined objectives.
Recommend and/or assist in the planning of structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation, or social activities for clients.
Recommend modification to treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.
Learn about new developments in therapy/counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
Gather and help maintain/update information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
Monitor clients' use of medications, illicit drugs and other substances.
Assess patients for risk of suicide attempts.
Execute or oversee the execution and maintenance of client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.
Perform crisis interventions with clients.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Attend professional conferences or meetings to ensure up-to-date knowledge.
Confer with CEO regarding any medical issues that might impact business operations.

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Licensed in the state of NH pursuant to NH Chapter 329:12 Physicians and Surgeons
Certification with in accordance with DATA 2000 for prescription of Buprenorphine product in treatment of Opioid Addiction
