Town of Falmouth, MA is Hiring an IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - NEW PAY RANGE (Open Positions: 1) Near Falmouth, MA

The Town of Falmouth IT Department has recently been restructured, and we are pleased to re-advertise for the IT Systems Administrator position with a new pay range and a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. The expected starting pay is $77,230.40 - $91,291.20, and the full salary range goes up to $104,353.60 ($106,440.67 as of July 1, 2024). The IT Systems Administrator is a Tier 3-level, exempt position with opportunities for professional development and advancement within the department. This position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position works primarily on-site; however, there are some limited opportunities for remote work. There is also an occasional need to assist with off-hour scheduled maintenance and emergencies. The IT Systems Administrator configures, engineers, and maintains the Town’s computer systems, cyber security, physical and virtual networks, and data centers and performs other duties in support of IT department goals. This position manages the network servers and technology tools; ensures security through access controls, backups, and firewalls; coordinates or completes the creation of user accounts and workstations; creates, supports, and manages access rights to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 applications; restores deleted data; and troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves problems with VPN software and multi-factor authentication.Other duties include but are not limited to actively monitoring service health, including Azure tools, and taking or coordinating appropriate action when needed; establishing, maintaining, and supporting individual storage (OneDrive), shared sites (SharePoint), and teleconferencing (Teams); managing and troubleshooting Group Policy Object (GPO), printer assignments, and the Card Access Control system; managing OS-level monitoring and support for various operating systems, including Windows, RHEL, and other Linux platforms; and managing the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the VMware virtualization platform, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSphere Replication, and other related products. This position also installs and configures software and hardware; upgrades systems as new releases and models become available; works with the IT Support Specialist I and II to troubleshoot and resolve advanced helpdesk tickets as needed; and ensures that the proper documentation is in place and kept up to date for the systems and applications used by the IT department and end users. This position travels to offsite Town departments to perform these functions as required.Candidates must have a working knowledge of storage and virtualization, including desktop virtualization, cloud-based application management, windows active directory, cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery. Applicants should also have a working knowledge of VMware vSphere, HPE SimpliVity, Horizon View, Office 365, Storage Systems, Veeam Backup, and Replication, as well as all aspects of Windows Active Directory.The ideal candidate can work independently but enjoys being part of a team and contributing to the goals of the IT department. The successful applicant has excellent customer service skills and is a patient problem solver with advanced IT knowledge, skills, and abilities and an interest in continuing professional development.Minimum requirements include an associate degree in information systems management, engineering, or related field, bachelor’s degree preferred, and five years or more of responsible experience in an information technology environment with project management experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a comprehensive background check.Starting Wage: Step 1 ($38.96/hour) - Step 6 ($43.89/hour), with an additional 2% COLA as of July 1, 2024, commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to grow along the 10-step pay scale. Sign-on bonus of up to $5,000: $2,500 to be paid after 60 days in the position, and $2,500 to be paid after 1 year in the position. Comprehensive benefits.
