AlignHR LLC is Hiring a Housekeeper - Part-time Oglebay Institute Museums Near Wheeling, WV

The Museums Housekeeper will perform all housekeeping functions in all areas of the Museums - collections areas and non-collections areas. Collections areas include exhibit spaces and cases, historic furnished ("period") rooms, storage, and curatorial work areas. Non-collections areas include offices, staff kitchen and restrooms, catering kitchen, and public spaces (reception, restrooms, hallways, stairs, elevator, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable environment for visitors and staff. Duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, cleaning of barriers, kitchens and restrooms, waste removal, etc.

• Adheres to the Oglebay Institute guidelines and procedures for supplies and equipment inventory and ordering of needed supplies.

• Report any maintenance problems related to the housekeeping function of the facility or equipment to the Director of the Department.

• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and lightbulbs by requesting purchases through the Assistant Director as needed.

• Observes the presence of pests, leaks, noticeable changes in temperature or humidity, or damage to collections, and report them to the Curator.

• Polishes silver in preparation for special events, may be required to meet the needs of Oglebay Institute.

• Cleans each space with the appropriate approach. For example, exhibit spaces with closed cases, such as the Glass Museum, may require only annual dusting of objects, while period rooms in the Mansion Museum, with objects on display in the open air, will require more frequent cleaning.

Physical Activity Level:

This position is considered having heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive / technical nature.

Physical Demands:

The employee must possess the physical capabilities necessary to perform a variety of cleaning tasks in a museum environment. This includes but is not limited to standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting objects of moderate weight. The role involves frequently traversing through various spaces including galleries, exhibition halls, and administrative offices, often requiring prolonged periods of physical activity. 

Work Environment

The employee’s works to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the institute's facilities. This encompasses a variety of spaces, including galleries, exhibition halls, administrative offices, and public areas. The work environment will frequently involve exposure to valuable artworks, artifacts, and exhibition installations, necessitating a high degree of caution and attention to detail to preserve these assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior experience in housekeeping preferred.

HOURS

Generally, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, subject to possible weekend and evening work.
