An Internist is a doctor of medicine who has been trained to become a medical specialist in the accurate diagnosis of disease and treatment of non-surgical diseases, particularly of the internal organs. Internists take a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the adult patient. As a personal physician, the internist provides a continuing relationship and may be seen for any concern relating to prevention, sickness or emergencies.
