Monomoy Regional School District is seeking a High School Assistant Principal who is an experienced, master teacher, who understands how to create academic excellence in classrooms, while also able to foster a supportive culture for our 675 students in grades 8 through 12, where each feels important. Monomoy Regional High School is a relatively new, well-provisioned building, serving the children of Chatham and Harwich. The Assistant Principal assumes a leadership role in the general administration and supervision of the schools. In addition, they assist teachers with curriculum planning, effective instruction and discipline. They assist the Principal in the daily duties of administering and organizing the school and provides supervision and direction for students in instructional and non-instructional areas.
The Assistant Principal reports directly to the principal in their daily responsibilities for the general administration and supervision of the schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists the Principal in coordinating the school’s educational program.
Assists in the preparation of policies and procedures, including but not limited to teacher and student handbooks.
Supervises student conduct within the schools and keeps records of any disciplinary action. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students on property and school buses.
Acts as liaison between the school and community agencies.
Assists in planning and supervising the school safety plan, fire drills, and emergency preparedness program.
Member of Student Support Team
Assists in supporting students in Special Education and ELL programs.
Shares in the responsibility of hiring, supervising and evaluating all faculty and staff within the schools.
Assists in scheduling of classrooms for staff.
Provides and coordinates appropriate support services and organization for required standardized testing and related documentation to include but limited to MCAS. Assists with the analysis of standardized testing results.
Assists in planning and facilitating professional development.
Assists with developing and facilitating mentor program for new faculty and staff, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedure and instructions.
Assists in meeting with, supporting and supervising departments and teaching teams.
Assists in providing, analyzing and using data to inform instruction.
Shares attendance at district wide meetings and school related night functions with the Administrative Team.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities from time to time as warranted or directed by the Principal.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent
Valid teaching certificate in Massachusetts or evidence of meeting the Massachusetts Department of Education minimum qualification for certificate.
Valid Massachusetts’s certification as High School Assistant Principal or evidence of meeting the Massachusetts Department of Education minimum qualifications for certification.
Minimum 3 years teaching experience.
