Miller International, Inc., designer and distributor of wholesale western apparel, is currently seeking a dedicated, reliable, friendly individual to join our growing team. The General Accountant will support the Accounting Assistant Manager and Controller in carrying out a broad range of accounting responsibilities; playing a crucial role in enabling proper financial processes and controls for the Company. This exciting opportunity is located at our corporate office in North Denver, Colorado.
Salary: $55,000- $65,000
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the General Ledger for a diverse mix of business entities
- Analyze, reconcile, and post activity to intercompany accounts
- Prepare and review journal entries on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as needed
- Assist in the timely, accurate closing of the Company’s accounting systems and records
- Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure proper recording
- Provide explanations for changes and variances and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Prepare detailed reports as requested by management
- Support fellow department personnel with processes including payables, and inventory
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly sales tax
- Support reviews and audits of the Company’s systems and records
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Monthly Accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses
- Bank deposits/Wire transfers
- Assist with related special projects, as required
- Other duties may be assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience including at least 2 years’ full charge bookkeeping experience or equivalent
- Accounting experience in wholesale distribution, retail sales, and/or consumer goods industry preferred
- Apparel related accounting experience a plus
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills
- Self-starter who requires minimal supervision
- Fast learner with ability to adapt in a changing environment
- Exceptional organization skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy a must
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines and follow standard operating procedures
- Fixed Asset experience a plus
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
