Job Overview:
Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan owns and operates two amazing summer camps: the Day Camp @ the JCC and Camp Settoga. The Day Camp @ the JCC, for children ages 3-5 is a foundational camp experience teaching children how to swim, play a number of sports, and develop relationships with new friends, all based in the 13-story Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. Camp Settoga is a beautiful country day camp on 21 acres 45 minutes from the Upper West Side. Camp Settoga runs June-Aug serving children ages 4-12. Multiple sports fields, an Olympic sized pool, arts centers and challenge course greet campers and staff who are ready for the summer of a lifetime.
Responsibilities and Duties:
This position will be responsible for:
Staffing:
- The hiring and general supervision of staff at Day Camp @ the JCC and Camp Settoga. This may include creating job postings, attending staff fairs, and sending monthly emails to returning staff as they plan for the summer
- During the summer, this person will supervise and support the unit heads and leadership team at Camp Settoga
- The development of a training curriculum for the leadership team and unit heads of both the Day Camp @ the JCC and Camp Settoga as well as the training curriculum for all summer staff
- Hosting monthly leadership meetings in the winter and spring to help them prepare for a successful summer
- Develop a process for tracking staff attendance, and staff payroll
- Determining the staff evaluation process and assisting the unit heads in successfully evaluating their teams
- Plan and manage weekly staff meetings for the leadership teams throughout the summer, and separate/additional meetings for camp staff
- Post-summer staff experience evaluation including a staff listening tour and development of an improvement plan for the following summer
- Developing the Camp Settoga CIT program
- Supporting the entire camp team at camp fairs and off-season events
- Working directly with the Director of Camp Settoga to ensure a positive, fun and successful camp season
Off Season Programming:
- Partnering with the Assistant Director of Camps to plan and execute a calendar of off-season events for current and prospective campers
- Create thoughtful pathways to Jewish life through programming at Camp Settoga
- Determine the best ways to infuse Jewish values and holidays into year-round programming
- Liaise and create access to Camp Settoga for the wider JCC community including teens, 20s 30s, and older adults
- Support philanthropic commitments through new year-round programming
- As needed, review and complete grant applications and year-end reports
Qualifications:
- College Degree
- Experience in relationship building/community outreach
- Interview and hiring experience
- Ability to envision multiple uses for outdoor camp facility
- Camp Leadership Experience
- Exemplary organizational skills
- Strong self motivation and ability to initiate plans
Salary Range:
$55-65K

Location and Commitments:
Full time schedule will start in May or early June. Summer at Camp Settoga; Off Season at MMJCCM. Availability on weekends to be present at Camp Settoga events throughout the year.
