Description

In addition to the expectations of all field personnel, the Field Operations Manager has the greatest responsibility in ensuring all field associated work is conducted with the professionalism and standard set by the company.

The Field Operations Manager serves as the main advocate for field personnel. This individual directly mentors and develops all field personnel on how to be successful in their duties. The Field Operations Manager oversees scheduling all activities, ensuring that all customer needs are met while ensuring the right individual can accomplish the task they are scheduled for. The Field Operations Manager works closely with dispatch on scheduling trucks for shipments and assists in setting up the amount of trucks, times for arriving on site, etc. The Field Operations Manager also tracks, maintains, and forecast supplies, equipment, personnel, and any other pertinent matters.

The Field Operations Manager maintains and develops high-level relationships with customers. This individual periodically checks in with customers to ensure that the onsite field personnel are completing their tasks in a manner concurrent with the expectations of the customer. This individual also communicates regularly with customers to serve as another point of contact that greater deepens the relationship between SWS and our customers. This individual communicates to the Waste Service Manager to status of the team, projects, bids, customers, supplies, and any other matter that directly effects the field personnel and customers. Must have a strong working relationship with the Field Operations Supervisor, Waste Service Manager, and all other important managers/coordinators within the company to ensure work is conducted with the highest probability for success.

D uties and Requirements

· Develop and/or implement company policies

· Track all trainings to ensure the group is up to date

· Suggest training classes to management for field group

· Strong organization skills with the ability to handle diverse and significant workload

· Strong understanding of how the field work fits into the overall business

· Strong understanding of how to use company resources most effectively for revenue and profit growth

· Strategic thinking

· Support sales efforts

· Manage/order inventory of all pertinent PPE

· Manage/order inventory of all pertinent equipment

· Manage/order inventory of all supplies

· Regular contact with all field personnel

· Monitor morale of all field personnel

· Inform and recommend to management on employee development

· Inform and recommend to management on employee discipline

· Maintain and develop high-end customer relationships with positive, professional leadership

· Create and/or assist in creating training for the Field Group

· Plan, coordinate and direct lab pack projects, tank cleanings, site cleanups

· Quote/assist in quoting upcoming projects

· Capable of managing large projects (i.e. turnarounds) for long periods of time

· Capable of operating and trouble-shooting equipment on-site

· Maintain good documentation of all work conducted including tasks completed throughout the project by the team

· Notify Field Operations Supervisor or Field Operations Manager of any spills, breaks, first aid, accidents or near misses that occur on project

· Capable of explaining waste compliance to customers

· Identify and act on opportunities to increase value added services to customers

· Ability to foster teamwork

· Mentor and train Technicians and Senior Technicians

· Manages hazardous and chemical waste programs for clients onsite following EPA, TCEQ, and company-specific requirements

· Executes onsite support services to include performing chemical/waste inventories, segregating chemicals, requesting shipments

· Can characterize, consolidate and pack chemicals in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations

· Can accurately complete Lab Pack Inventory sheets for submission to TSDFs

· Problem solving skills

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

· Maybe required to oversee work conducted by sub-contractors

· Work in a safe manner while constantly striving for no incidents or accidents

· Perform physical labor associated with cleanup activities, sample collection, waste removal and other remediation services

· Properly sample non-hazardous and hazardous waste from drums, totes, tanks, sumps, etc.

· Properly fills out Chain of Custodies for samples

· Prepares shipments of drums, totes, etc. of non-hazardous and hazardous waste

· Coordinates shipments of non-hazardous and hazardous waste on site to include drivers, forklift operators, customer contact, etc.

· Accurately completes all paperwork associated with shipping non-hazardous and hazardous waste

· Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and site-specific safety plans

· Operate hand tools, power tools and equipment

· Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment

· Represents the company in a professional manner on-site

· Able to wear full and half face respirator

· Able to work in confined spaces

· Regularly lift and carry 50 pounds

· Able to operate equipment including forklifts, pressure washers, skid steers, etc.

· Has effective written and verbal communication skills

· Maintains high level of work ethic and integrity

· Perform all other duties as required

Experience/Knowledge

· Knowledge of disposal site capabilities and limitations prior to shipping waste materials

· General knowledge of plant operations

· General knowledge on operations of Air Movers, Vacuum Trucks and Bobtail Rolloffs

· General knowledge of basic chemistry and hazardous of chemicals

· Proven record in completing tasks without incident

· Strong working relationship within the company

Education/Training

· Preferred:

o Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, environmental science or related fields

o 40 Hour HAZWOPER
