Overview:
The National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA) was founded in 1977 as a
501(c)(3) corporation for the express purpose of providing timely intervention, education, and unconditional care to all persons who come into contact with the human services or criminal justice systems. NCIA is a national service provider, advocate, and resource for those persons and entities seeking alternatives to institutionalization.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a House Manager. This supervisory role provides essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
- Implement individualized care plans and support goals to promote independence and personal growth.
- Engage individuals in social and recreational activities, promoting community integration and participation.
- Document individual progress, behaviors, and any incidents in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of individual information.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including social workers, healthcare professionals, and family members, to ensure comprehensive care.
Skills:
- Experience in home care, social work, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with individuals.
- Ability to provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities or other special needs.
- Familiarity with working in a patient care setting is a plus.
- Understand DDA, Person-centered plan goals, and the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors with patience and empathy.
Requirements:
- An Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree in Human Services, Psychology, or a related field two years of related experience; or,
- At least three years experience supporting clients with disabilities, with two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Must have reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record as determined by the criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and Agency policy.
