Overview of the Role:
The role of the Preschool Associate Teacher is to support the teacher in creating a warm, inviting and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Under the guidance of the teacher, collaborating on curriculum design and relationship building.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assists teacher in creating a classroom environment that supports the needs of each individual child with concerns for their interests, individual learning style and stage of development.
• With teacher support, plans individual and group activities to stimulate the children's growth in language, social, emotional, math and motor skills.
• Incorporates learning about Jewish holidays, values, and culture into the classroom environment.
• Supports the children in development of self-efficacy and autonomy, including the practice of self-care. Supports children in toilet training as needed.
• Prepares healthy snacks for children and supports children with meal time.
• Supports teacher in family communication including email, in-person conversation and annual parent-teacher conferences.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree or Associates degree or equivalent, in Child Development, a plus
• 12 core units of approved Early Childhood Education (Coursework to include: Child Growth & Development, Curriculum, Principals & Practices, & Family and Community) OR completed 6 core units with 6 in progress
• 3 infant/toddler units completed with 3 infant/toddler units in progress
• Associate Teacher permit, preferred
• Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions, a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word; processing software; and perform email functions
