As the Georgetown County reporter for The Post and Courier, the emphasis for this role will be on growing our audience reach through in-depth coverage of a wide range of topics, including local politics, education, public safety and the environment.
This reporter will work closely with an experienced team of journalists to cover stories about the impact of development in the Waccamaw Neck, the transition of Georgetown from a working waterfront to a tourist destination, and the economic challenges facing the area’s steel and paper mills.
Along with reporting breaking news and enterprise pieces, the reporter will also seek to tell stories in other ways, including short-form, vertical video. As readers increasingly consume video for news and information, our reporters aim to expand our digital presence with mobile-first storytelling.
This position reports to the local editor who oversees coverage in Horry and Georgetown counties. The stories can be assigned by a supervisor or self-generated and approved by a supervisor.
