Mountain Capital Partners is Hiring a F&B Events Server Near Durango, CO

As an Events Server, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service during various events hosted by our organization. From weddings and corporate functions to private parties and banquets, you will ensure that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience by providing attentive and professional service. This is a seasonal position from June 15 to October 7, 2024. Dates are subject to change based on the availability of the applicant and needs of the business.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Setup and Preparation: Assist in setting up event spaces, including arranging tables and chairs, setting up decorations, and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are in place.
  • Greeting and Welcoming Guests: Welcome guests as they arrive at the event, escort them to their seats, and provide any necessary assistance.
  • Taking and Serving Orders: Take food and beverage orders from guests and accurately input them into the POS system. Serve food and drinks promptly and courteously.
  • Buffet or Plated Service: Depending on the event format, provide buffet-style service, plated meals, or passed hors d'oeuvres. Ensure that all food items are presented attractively and replenished as needed.
  • Beverage Service: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, following responsible alcohol service guidelines. Monitor guests' alcohol consumption and adhere to legal drinking age requirements.
  • Customer Assistance: Attend to guests' needs throughout the event, including refilling drinks, clearing plates, and addressing any special requests or dietary restrictions.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep event spaces clean and tidy during the event, including clearing tables, removing empty dishes and glassware, and maintaining overall cleanliness.
  • Assisting with Event Flow: Work closely with event coordinators and other staff members to ensure that the event runs smoothly. Assist with coordinating timing for speeches, presentations, or entertainment as needed.
  • Handling Payments: Process payments for additional services or items ordered during the event, such as bar tabs or additional menu items.
  • Adhering to Safety and Health Standards: Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Tear Down and Cleaning: Tearing down of events, including linens, plateware, moving tables, cleaning and resetting.
  • Any other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Experience and Abilities: :
  • Previous experience in banquet or event serving preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Transportation to and from the mountain during hours the employee shuttle does not run.
  • Food handler's certification and/or alcohol service training (where applicable).

  • POS (Point of Sale) System: POS systems are used to input orders, process payments, and manage transactions. They help streamline the ordering and payment process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Trays: Trays are used to carry multiple plates, glasses, and other items to and from the kitchen and dining area. They help servers transport items safely and efficiently.
  • Carrying Trays or Caddies: Carrying trays or caddies are used to transport multiple drinks or condiments at once, making it easier for servers to serve beverages and additional items to customers.
  • Beverage Pitchers: Servers use beverage pitchers to serve water, soda, or other beverages to customers at their tables.
  • Silverware and Glassware: Servers use silverware (forks, knives, spoons) and glassware (cups, glasses) to set tables and serve food and beverages to customers.
  • Tablecloths and Napkins: Servers use tablecloths to cover and set tables, and napkins to provide to customers for use during their meal.
  • Condiment Holders: Condiment holders are used to hold and organize condiments such as salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and sauces for customers to use.
  • Cleaning Supplies: Servers use cleaning supplies such as cloths, spray bottles, and sanitizing solution to clean tables, chairs, and other surfaces in the dining area.
  • Aprons: Servers wear aprons to protect their clothing and carry small items such as pens, order pads, and check presenters.
  • Menu Boards or Menus: Servers use menu boards or menus to present food and beverage options to customers and assist them in making selections.
  • Wine Openers and Corkscrews: Servers use wine openers and corkscrews to open bottles of wine for customers who order wine with their meals.
These materials and equipment help servers perform their duties effectively, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain a smooth operation in the restaurant or dining establishment.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
  • Restaurant Setting: Servers typically work in restaurants, cafes, bars, or other dining establishments. The environment can range from casual to upscale, with variations in atmosphere and clientele.

  • Bending and Reaching: Servers frequently bend and reach to set tables, deliver food and beverages, and clear dishes. This requires flexibility and agility to navigate tight spaces and reach items on high or low surfaces.
  • Repetitive Motions: Serving involves repetitive motions such as writing orders, pouring drinks, and carrying trays. Over time, these motions can lead to strain or discomfort in the wrists, arms, and shoulders.
  • Temperature Variations: Servers may be exposed to temperature variations, including hot kitchen environments and cold refrigeration areas. They may also work outdoors on patios or terrace areas, exposed to weather conditions.
  • Stressful Situations: Serving can be stressful at times, especially during busy periods or when dealing with demanding customers or unexpected issues. Servers must remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
